Night of the Living Dead

For several months life in Hobbs Lane once again returned to normal. And while the three friends no longer hung together as tightly as their childhood selves — having grown into their own social circles — they always made time for each other.

Mina had once proclaimed, in sagely manner, that taking care of your oldest and dearest friendships was an investment for the future. Having someone you could always trust (when you weren’t pranking the ever-loving shit out of them) and confide in when troubled times came peering through your window, like a creepy slasher movie stalker.

As it happened, cheesy horror flicks were one of the group’s few remaining shared interests. So they would often hit the cinema together, or camp out on the sofa for a movie marathon whenever one of them was blessed with an empty house.

As halloween closed in for yet another year, Jonathan suggested they all attend the Midnight Spooktacular at the retro cinema in the next county over. A plan met with complete approval by both the girls.

What they didn’t know was that Jonathan had been planning his next prank for that very night.

Planning a prank to end all pranks.

A prank so nefarious it could earn an honorary doctorate in neferiousness from Professor Nefarious’ School for the Dastardly Nefarious.

All the pieces were in place. Now he just needed to close the trap!
