New day, New Challenge

1 of 5, aka Doctor Crusher, stood slowly as her body shimmered in the low light of the room. While the brief power drain from the replicator was likely to go unnoticed, the doctor failing to report for duty would not. As such, 1 of 5 would need to adopt a disguise until such time as she gained control of enough officers to allow her true form to show through. Scanning the doctor's discarded uniform that lay on the floor, 1 of 5 activated her holographic disguise and exited the former doctor's quarters. It was still a bit early but being the chief medical officer had certain advantages. 1 of 5 knew everything Doctor Crusher knew and ...now... more. She knew the crew rotations of Doctor Crusher's subordinates and would use that to the Collective's advantage. As 1 of 5 walked, she sensed a crewman walking the other way nearby. Taking a slight detour, 1 of 5 approached the crewman quietly and from behind. Not 10 seconds later another drone was "born" and would help to further 1 of 5's cause. This drone, who had been heading to bed, would lack the advanced features 1 of 5 had but would leave its uniform in a location where there would be an "accident" to explain the former crewman's disappearance.

1 of 5 smiled subtly as she proceeded to her office in sickbay. Turning into the doorway of sickbay, 1 of 5 noted that she was the first one there, as per usual.

"Perfect," she thought. "I can now prepare undisturbed."

The former human now began to set in motion her plan. She would have the ship assimilated by the end of the week at the latest.

Meanwhile, in 1 of 5's former quarters, the ship itself was continuing to be assimilated. The quarters next to Doctor Crusher's had begun to be assimilated and its occupant was even now starting to join the Collective as a low-level drone. While the doctor was granted certain specialty skills by her assimilation, all newly created drones on the Enterprise would have one ability in common; holographic disguises. This would allow them to continue to function as members of the crew until such time as the entire ship had been assimilated. The Borg Queen smiled evilly in her unicomplex as she contemplated the success of this new strategy to assimilate the humans.
