“I love you,” Nate replied. But instead of the reply he hoped for, he was speaking into a dead phone. She hadn’t said that to him in months.
“Goddamnit.” He was talking to himself again. But alone in his apartment, it was a luxury he could be allowed. “I don’t know why I put up with this shit.” He grimaced, and tried to be reasonable instead of angry. “But that’s not fair, she has a life too. It’s not like she’s just some kind of blowjob fairy I can summon whenever I want.” He chuckled ruefully to himself.
