Moving Out

“..and these are the keys.”

The landlady drops the set of three keys into your hand as you stand in the middle of the living room of your new flat. Your best friend Martha begins to thank her for all of her help as you stare at the keys.

You grew up in a big household, four sisters and a brother all stuck in a tiny house on the outskirts of the city. You love them all dearly but you have to admit that when your brother moved away it did make things a little more pleasant.

So when you finished High School you started looking for a place of your own. It became clear pretty quickly that staying by yourself was out of the question. Luckily for you Martha was in much the same situation as you. So you both pooled your money together and found this place. It is hardly any closer to the city center than your family home but it has two bedroom, a nice living room and a decent kitchen and most importantly it is only you and Martha in it.

The landlady leaves with a few party words of advice and a reminder that you will not get your deposit back if there is any damage done to the place. When the door is finally closed behind her Martha returns to the living room. You both can’t wipe huge smiles from your faces as you walk around the place.

“We should go and see the sites!” Martha declares when you both get tired of being amazed at the fact you are living away from home.
