Chapter 43 by brevdravis brevdravis

Teenage Bribery

Movie and Dinner Out and that's The FINAL offer.

"But Nothing's PLAYING, Dad..." Groaned Titania. "NOTHING."

"Jurassic Park's running at the theater downtown," Lauren suggested helpfully as the two of them stood in Titania's doorway. Her low cut floral shirt did wonders to draw Robin's attention to her cleavage. Yes, it had been a very good selection for tonight. Unfortunately, the negotiations had been ongoing since Titania's return from school. "Ok, I really think we've been trying to hint that we don't want you two here for a couple hours. Can you please take it?"

"Take what?" Titania asked, her eyes still glued to her computer monitor.

"The HINT!" Lauren groaned. "I swear sometimes... " She shook her head with frustration.

"You could have gone with Miranda," Robin suggested. "She's only been gone for a couple minutes, and we could totally call her back."

"Ugh, to her dorky vampire group? No thank you, Dad." Titania groaned. "Everybody always decides to make..."

"Kid... LEAVE... If you really want to stay here you better have your music turned up. I mean louder than THIS." Lauren finished her statement by walking towards the TV rapidly. She clicked a few buttons on the remote, before calling up a playlist that she'd saved for special occasions. Oh, crap, Robin realized as her finger stabbed down on the "Mood Music" playlist.

"MAH GIRLFRIEND'S... A dick magnet... Mah girlfriend... gotta have it..." Lauren sang Loudly. And quite well actually. Robin had enjoyed her vocal talents several times at Karaoke on the times they did go out.

Lauren began to walk slowly down the small carpeted hall towards the bedroom, when the sound of a slamming window next door brought the attention of pretty much everyone in the apartment. It echoed from Robin's open bedroom door, and he looked at Titania with a shrug.

"See, even the neighbor doesn't want to hear it." He grinned, knowing what the sound actually meant. No reason for his daughter to know. Playing the gross out card was the last option here, and probably the only one that would work before...

"Ugh... really? Fine... I'm going..." Titania removed her headphones from her neck and powered down her computer.

"You want me to call Miranda?" Robin raised his voice as Lauren continued to happily sing as she approached. Lauren draped her hand over his shoulder, playfully running the hand along his collarbone while intoning the lyrics...

"...If she drunk or if she's stoned... but she's comin' back to my place tonight..."

"You two can knock off the PDA," Titania shook her head, dialing the flip phone in her hand. Robin smiled at that. That was one thing his girls didn't do at least. Not members of the selfie brigade. He had paid for flip phones, extra, in fact. The clutch of Lauren's fingers on his butt brought him out of the momentary reflection and he returned his attention to his daughter, who was in the process of zipping up a hoodie.

"So, where are you gonna go?" Robin asked, glad that she was going to give them some privacy, but a little concerned about the angry glares that Titania shot his way as she gathered up her small backpack which served as her purse.

"I'll, I dunno, I might hit the retro arcade or the library or something," Titania shrugged. Robin knew that the library meant just do the same thing that she would do at home, on a public terminal. "Just... how long do I have to be out for?"

"At least two hours, Ok?" Robin's eyes followed Lauren as she stepped into the bedroom, still singing, and spinning slightly, a sway to her hips.

"... She's a bad, bad girlfriend..." Lauren nearly laughed, her eyes lighting on the small note on the window, and the lit room beyond.
