Move to the Big City

Amongst the many, many people who think you are nothing more than a freak of nature, are your mother and stepfather. Even before you gained your powers, you stood apart from the family you were raised into. Having powers took a fairly awkward living arrangment and amplified it quite a bit. It was actually quite a relief for all parties involved that you were to be moving away from them and your younger half sisters. Still, despite a general mutual dislike, your stepfather did give you some money and paid for your bus ticket. While not most caring relationship in the world, both you and your stepfather had come to an understanding with one another and shared a bond of mutual respect- which was more than you could say for the rest of your household.

Luckily, your older half-sister, Jennifer, was willing to take you in. You'd always been much closer to her than the rest of your family. Though whether it was because the two of you shared the same biological deadbeat dad or because the two of you rarely ever got to see each other, is anyone's guess.

You couldn't contain the smile that appeared when you saw her waiting for you at the bus stop as you disembarked the bus. "Hello, Sister."

She rolls her eyes at your overly formal greeting and smiles back at you. "Little Brother."

You close your eyes, reveling in the feeling of being reunited with her as the two of you hug as neither of you had seen each other in months. The day of your highschool graduation had seen her taking finals for some of her college courses.

"Sorry I haven't been there for you," she whispered into your ear.

You pull back from her a bit to look her in the eye. She has to tilt her head up slightly as, depite being the elder sibling, she is a couple inches shorter than you. "Don't sweat it. You had your own obligations."

"So what have you got planned, James?" Jennifer asks you.

"Find a job," you answer honestly. "No long term plans as of yet."

"Are you gonna try and hook up with one of the local hero groups?" she inquired.
