Morning with Sila

The next morning, I find Sila at the table, drinking down a morning coffee.

"Good morning." I say.

"Hey." She replies.

"You had anything to eat?"

"Not yet."

"On it."

I start cutting up some fruit for some fruit salad. Student like her needs some proper fuel, and so do I, for my morning run. Within minutes I'm serving up two plates of fruit salad with yogurt.

"Bon appetit." I say.

"Thank you."

We start eating, before I ask "So how did you sleep?"

"Not that well." She lets out a nervous chuckle. "I mean it's a big step for me, you know?"

"Totally. You'll get into it."

"Yeah."

"So college today?"

"Yep."

I raise an eyebrow. "And tonight?"

"Shift at my Dad's place."

"And after that? It is a Friday after all."

"I-uhh don't have any plans to be honest."

"Nor do I."

"I think I might just chill out. Get used to the place."

"Nothing wrong with that, but I'm heading out to a gig tomorrow and you're welcome to come along." Doubt she's the type for a rowdy hardcore show, but it'd be rude not to invite her.

"Uhh, maybe. What kind of music?"

"Hardcore. Just a local show."

"Eh, I dunno if that's my thing."

"Fair enough. Offer's there."

"Thank you."

Sila proceeds to finish her meal before she says "I better get going."

"Sure. See you Sila."

"Bye."
