Who should he possess?

Morgan - Content Strategist

"Finally!" Shu huffed as he placed the last box of files in the file room. As usual, Shu was tasked with the most mundane of tasks that Shu was beginning to wonder if he was viewed as simply a paper boy by his colleagues. Shu would cope by forcing an emotionless façade, but it would only be a matter of time before he snaps. Today would seem like that time, when he was assigned to sort all relevant files regarding the recent project. By the time Shu was done, it was already dark, and most employees already left for the day. Even Faith, the person who assigned this arduous task to him, was no longer in her office when Shu wanted to report his work. "Why am I not surprised?" Shu sighed as he decided to pack up and go home.

Before returning to his cubicle, Shu stopped by the break room for a quick snack. As he approached, he was surprised to hear a voice emanating from that room. Apparently, he was not the only one working overtime on this floor. Peering in, Shu saw Morgan sitting at a table, eating a mixed salad while conversing on her phone. Judging by her tone, she was most likely talking to a close work colleague of hers. Despite seeing Morgan several times a week, Shu never had much of a chance working with her because they were in different departments: Morgan in marketing, Shu in research and development. From what he heard from other colleagues, Morgan was a team player with very high standards. She would publicly display flexibility and empathy, but she would later criticize them for their lack of ability, not in front of them, of course. Even with all the hassle Shu had to put up with Faith, she would at least be easier to handle than Morgan, as Faith would be easier to read and comprehend. In the end, Shu decided to turn back to his cubicle to avoid sparking potential contempt from Morgan. But he did take a quick glimpse of Morgan's figure. If someone were to sum up her appearance in a few words, it would be 'professionally cute'. Morgan had quite a smooth baby face with bright red glasses that match the color of her long curly hair loosely tied to one side. Her voice was also fairly soft and high-pitched. Despite those youthful qualities, the rest of her appearance presented a more professional look. She was dressed in a light gray blazer with a low cut maroon blouse. Underneath was a mid-thigh length black pencil skirt with matching heels. Clearly, she was trying to garner looks while maintaining a professional impression, but that attire also served as a sign of her seniority. Despite only being in her late 20s, she had gained the respect of the higher-ups from her numerous accomplishments and collaborative work ethic.

As Shu walked away, appeasing his growling stomach, he heard Morgan say, "No, Shu is the problem here.... I can't; you know that we have to keep our best image here.... Look, it's getting late, I'll talk to you tomorrow," she replied before hanging up on her call.

At that point, Shu was hiding behind the doorway, inconspicuously eavesdropping on her conversation. "Me? The problem? Keeping the best image? What is she saying? Did I offend her somehow?" Simply put, Shu was confused by what he heard. He rarely interacts with Morgan, so why was she deeming him an issue? Did someone whisper nonsense about him in their conversations? More importantly, what was she planning to do but couldn't in order to maintain that 'best image'? For the first time since interning here, Shu was both afraid and intrigued.

Shu felt a sense of warmth emerge from his chest, from the area where the jewel entered his body this morning. He was reminded of his newfound power of spirit possession, a catalyst that broke him from his monotonous routine. He knew he wanted to test at work this morning, but he was tasked with busy work all day until now. Shu thought that he would first use this power on one of his supervisors or close colleagues, but he supposed that Morgan wouldn't be a terrible first choice. She would make quite the attractive specimen, and the office building was mostly deserted, diminishing the chance of potential onlookers. Plus, Shu was curious what the phone was about.

"Umm.. how do I do this again?" Shu thought to himself as he closed his eyes to concentrate. After holding his breath for a few moments, Shu opened his eyes, anticipating the usual. However, he realized that he was no longer corporeal. His translucent 'spirit' was floating off the ground as the sense of weightlessness dominated Shu's new form. Looking down, he saw his own body regaining consciousness, seemingly continuing on his own will.
