Mom leaves, Katie and Kelly are back

Moments after you set down your bag, your mom calls up the stairs to you. "We're leaving, hon. Katie and Kelly just got back, come down and say hello. And be nice!" The door slams, and your mom is gone. She's been kind of self-centered for a while now, and you've gotten used to her not being very active in your life. Well, time to head down and meet the new sister. You've met Ronnie, but you and Kelly never seemed to be around at the same time, and since your mom and Ronnie eloped, there was no wedding to meet and greet everyone.

You check your appearance in the mirror, since this'll be the first time in months that you've seen your cousin Katie, and despite the fact that nothing will probably ever happen, you want to stay on top of your game, just in case.

You walk down the stairs, not too fast, don't want to seem too anxious. You reach the bottom of the stairs and head into the living room. You can hear the TV on and figure the girls to be in there. You hear them both laugh loudly, just before you round the corner into the TV room.
