Millie backs down, but...

Millie hesitated, logic finally prevailing in her mind. Barry had a lot of game, and was definitely not someone to be messed with. Accepting the bet, she realised, would be a huge mistake.

“W-well, maybe not, actually...” Millie started. All the bravado from earlier had suddenly dissipated.

“WHAT?” Tes interjected. “You’re actually backing down now? Get a grip, girl! Fine then, I’ll take you up, Barry! If you actually manage to barrow someone, then I’m yours!”

Barry smirked. “Deal. You’d better be prepared, Tessa. I’ll make sure you can’t walk straight after I’m through with you.”

“Hah! As if, you perv!”

Barry then turned to leave. Millie looked at her friend in alarm. “Tes, are you sure—” Millie started.

“Of course I am! It’s a matter of pride here Millie! You can’t just back down like that!” Tes interjected. “He’ll end up walking over you if you eat your words and take back what you said. Now, let’s go get drinks!”

Well, ten points for confidence, Millie thought wryly to herself.
