Meeting John

So that’s how at six am I Glenn Thorpe came to be waiting outside the local Tim Hortons Rosemarie is inside getting a coffee and cruleur to go for our trip to the big smoke. With the radio on a local station telling about a possible winter storm to hit the Toronto area,i wanted to get this show on the road. Rosemarie’s meeting was at noon and it was a good four hour drive just to the outskirts of Toronto

As I contemplated honking the horn Rosemarie comes rushing out, A bag in one hand and a flask in the other “Oh I’m so sorry Glenn by Betty wanted to hear all about our little trip to Toronto!”

"No problem, it’s just I promised your mother I would have you in Toronto before that possible storm blew in!” As she settled in I start the four hour trip, which for a Sunday wasn’t nearly as bad as a weekday version was. A little after nine thirty I’m pulling into my old condo building at 184 Front Street, taking sure that I had my transmitter, get us into the underground parking facilities just as the snow started.

Taking Rosemarie up to the 15 floor, unlocking the door onto floor to ceiling window views of the lake and the surrounding islands. No soon is her eyes attracted to the view than big fat flakes start to make their appearance. “They look so different here in the city than in Queen’s Dale!"

"Rosemarie we have two hours before we have to meet with John in his office which is a twenty minute walk from here!"

“So what should we do until then?” her brown eyes full of excitement!

“Well have you reviewed the rest of your story? Have you don’t any research into what advancement you can be looking at?” Looking at their meeting from the first hand knowledge that I have.

“I was kind of hoping you would make suggestions when we three met!”

“We three!, Oh man All I planed was to have a coffee in the outer office while waiting for you and him to meet!” Settling in I help Rosemarie plan what she’s going to say when she meets John. Both of us agreeing that she was going to negotiate an advance of ten thousand dollars

Eleven thirty we leave to do the twenty minute walk, Arriving just as John came in shaking snow off his lapel. Looking up he spot me “Glenn, when can I expect the next Nettles thriller?” Seeing Rosemarie “And this must be my newest superstar in the making!” Taking her by the shoulders and leading her to the elevator and then into his office suite.

A twinkle in her eye and John’s actions makes me wonder if i should sit in on the meeting. As they progress through how John see her book being marketed. Before the three of us part ways Rosemarie has accepted a cheque of twenty thousand dollars and a three book deal.

Walking back to my condo, She on cloud nine not realizing that the twenty minute trip has taken well over an hour in the storm. As we settle in, "Oh Glenn can I call mom with the news?”

“Of course!"

As she on the phone with her mom, I’m watching the weather report and found out that the Ontario Highway Ministry has closed the highway to Queen’s Dale so it looked like Rosemarie and I were going to be stranded here in my condo.

As she hangs up the exuberance still on her face and in her eyes “ Mom says they have closed the highway down do to the snow! How are we going to get back home?”

“We’re stuck here until they reopen the road!” Moving into the kitchen finding enough food staples in the cupboards, Relaying her fears "Rosemarie, you have the bedroom while I take the couch!"
