Meeting Danielle's Family

Spencer took a deep breath as he looked in the mirror. Even with his best cologne and nicest clothes, Spencer couldn't cover up the fact he was nervous. Still, he knew that the only thing he could do was get on with it. Once Amy was ready, the two headed to Danielle's house.

After ringing the doorbell, Spencer was greeted by a lanky giant of a man, who wore thick-rimmed glasses and office attire. Spencer guessed the man was around thirty, figuring him to be Danielle's brother. "You must be Spencer?"

"You're the brother?"

The man nodded as he shook Spencer's hand. "Andy."

"Spencer, and this is my daughter, Amy."

"Hi." She said.

"Well, come on in."

Spencer followed the man inside, where Danielle's father sat by the dinner table, reading a novel. In his old age, his hair had reclined and his belly grown. "Oh, you must be Spencer."

"Yes sir." Spencer gave the old man a firm handshake.

"Chris."

"Pleasure to meet you sir."

"Oh, hey Spencer." Dani called out from the kitchen. Spencer looked up to see Dani and her mother, who was somewhat shorter, with a mess of short red hair.

"Hey."

"He's handsome." Dani's mother said, to which Spencer smiled.

"Spencer, this is Angela, my mother."

"Nice to meet you."

"It's a pleasure dear. C'mon, sit down."

Spencer sat down, feeling somewhat more at ease. That feeling left when Chris asked "So, what do you do for work Spencer?"

"Well, I'm actually retired. I used to work in DC as a lobbyist."

"Ah, politics. Must have been good to get away from that mob?"

"Very."

"Now don't you start talking about the economy." Angela interjected. "Sorry, he's the money man."

"Just like his daughter?"

"And his son." Andy added. "I'm an accountant."

"Yes, I'm the only one who isn't good with money." Angela said.

"Well, so long your good with the cooking it should all be fine." Spencer chuckled.

"Can't be any worse than yours Dad." Amy added, to which the room laughed. Again, he felt at ease. Danielle and Angela proceed to serve up the lasagna they had cooked, which everyone enjoyed. The rest of the night went smoothly, with Spencer talking about his days in DC without setting off any political landmines. When it came time, he, Amy, and Danielle headed to the front door.

"It was a great night." Spencer said.

"It was. So, see you soon."

"Yeah." The two exchange one last kiss, before Spencer went back home.
