Chapter 40 by Reduqe Reduqe

What's next?

Meanwhile, Luke...

Luke didn't have a nice day, not at all. He still felt terrible for what happened to Becky, and there was no way he could not consider himself guilty for it. How in the world could he think that a dark magical ritual could lead to something good? Obviously he couldn't have imagined how bad things would have got, but it had been very risky and reckless to put her friend's in such danger. Her life had changed, heck even his own life had changed and he knew it was his fault too. When he saw Becky together with Mark, that disgusting jerk who made life impossible for them in the past years he felt something inside him break. It wasn't just jealousy, it was a feel of pure despair, mixed with anger and self hatred; it was no secret that he had always felt something for Becky, and he hoped to someday confess his feelings to his friend, but all of it was gone forever now. He couldn't get the image of Mark and Becky having sex out of his mind, especially given Bed's new body that seemed made for creating sexual fantasies. It was arousing in some perversed and bad way, but it still made him feel miserable. He came home late, having spent most of the afternoon with Danny, trying to develop some kind of a plan or even just get enough courage to talk with Becky. It was in moment like those that he really appreciated Dann: theirs had been a troubled friendship, full of pranks, rivalry and petty discussions, but he had always been able to rely on him whenever he needed his help. He opened his home's door smiling, and was still with a smile that he went sleeping, hoping (maybe foolishly) that things could get better with Dann's help.

He barely slept that night and when he did, his dreams were infested with images of hellish landscapes, laughing demons and pictures of sex and perversion. It was like he was still connected to the infernal realm he unleashed opening the book, and that sensation left him even more angry and scared than the day before. That morning he wouldn't go to school, he needed answers, which could be found only inside the book. He told his parents he was sick, and waited for her sister to go out to work. Chelsea too looked different, somewhat tired and stressed, but he saw a maleficent shadow in her eyes. Little did he know of her experience with Becky, buy a dark suspect entered his mind and started to infest it like a wicked ghost.

After patiently waiting in his bed, he finally rushed out of it, searching in his desk for that evil book. He was shocked when he found the desk keyhole completely broken, and even more when he realised the book had been stolen. His first thought hit him like a dark lightning in a storm:

"CHELSEA!"

She had an habit of stealing his things, and that would explain her strange gaze that morning. He rushed to her room, ready to begin the search. He couldn't allow such an important thing to get lost, or end up in the wrong hands. He immediately sent a message to Danny.

"No school tomorrow. Call me ASAP. Need help. Very important."

It didn't matter how grim the situation had become, he was sure together they could fix it.

What about Danny?
