Who is the lucky new witch?

Maya, Jessie's neighbor

Jessie had a crush on her neighbor Maya. Three weeks ago, when Jessie had first moved to this neighborhood, she had noticed someone unloading boxes from another moving van just next door. She had been immediately caught by the dark haired woman's striking features, and when she later approached Jessie to introduce herself, Jessie found herself momentarily tongue tied. Maya had been both charming and assertive, and after Jessie had managed to find her voice again, they hit it off.

Jessie was bi-sexual, but she had not been with many women before. She had gotten dinner with her neighbor twice now, but each time had been with other friends, and it had been hard for Jessie to get a read on Maya's sexuality. Jessie was not particularly assertive herself, and she did not want to risk making things awkward between the two of them.

A few days ago, something odd had happened. It was a warm spring Saturday afternoon, and Jessie was lounging in her back yard reading a book. She started to hear someone grunt and curse through the privacy fence between her backyard and Maya's. She thought she recognized her neighbor's voice, so she called out to ask if everything was okay.

"It's fine!" She heard Maya call back with some annoyance in her voice. "This ugly weed is just really stuck in the ground."

Curious, Jessie put down her book and walked over to the fence. She stepped up on an old cinderblock and peered up over the wooden wall at Maya. She found her neighbor dressed in jeans and a t-shirt on one knee pulling for all it was worth on the ugliest looking red weed Jessie had ever seen. It was about as tall as her waist but as thin as her finger, twisting around itself in odd ways. Maya had her fingers in the dirt around its base, and Jessie could see the muscles straining in her forearms. She really had lovely arms...

"Gah!" Maya grunted with a final heave and pulled up the weed by its roots.

Jessie peered down at it with curiosity as Maya held it up triumphantly. The roots were odd. Instead of spreading out like a normal plant, they all wrapped and coiled around some sort of object.

"What is that?" Jessie pointed down at whatever the roots were wrapped around.

"Good question..." Maya began to pull away the roots before the rest of the plant finally fell away to the ground to reveal a rock with odd red markings on it.

As soon as the plant left the stone, it immediately began to wilt and shrivel away into dust. Neither of the women noticed this though, as they were both too transfixed by the stone.

"Woah..." Maya held it out in her palm, seemingly transfixed.

Jessie looked at the rock for a moment as it seemed to almost emit some sort of dull red light. Her eyes turned up to Maya, and she noticed that her neighbor almost looked like she was in a trance. Jessie called out to her but got no response. She tried again, but the dark haired woman just kept staring at that rock. Jessie was about to climb over and check on her, when her arm suddenly fell beside her. She dropped the rock and staggered back a few steps.

"Maya, are you okay?"

Jessie's neighbor shook her head as if to clear, then looked back up to Jessie like she had forgotten she was there.

"What? Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Damn, I need some water! I think I might be getting heat stroke out here or something."

After she went back inside, Jessie did not see her neighbor for the rest of the weekend. The next Monday, after getting home from work, Jessie was startled by Maya calling out from her front door.

"Oh hey Maya, everything alright?"

"I think. Could you come over for a minute? I want your opinion or something."

For a moment, Jessie felt her heart flutter. She then scolded herself for being a horndog when she pictured Maya asking for her opinion on her underwear. When she entered her neighbor's front door, Maya shut it behind her and guided her to the couch in her living room. Jessie looked around on her way over, and was amused to find that inside of Maya's house looked almost exactly how she imagined it. When she was seated, Maya took a position in a cushioned chair directly across from her.

"Alright Jessie, remember that rock I picked up last Saturday? The one that weed was on top of?"

"Uh, yeah I do. You were acting real weird when it happened."

"Mmmhmm." Maya nodded eagerly and continued. "Well there was something in that rock. I don't know what it did, but...hmmm..."

Maya slowed off her conversation and stared at Jessie. Jessie quickly brought her attention back to Maya's face and could feel herself blushing slightly. Maya was dressed in a tight black t-shirt that showed a healthy amount of her cleavage and a white pencil skirt that left much of her leg exposed. So much, in fact, that Jessie had momentarily found herself looking up her neighbor's skirt to catch a glimpse of the dark lingerie she was wearing beneath. Jessie was getting embarrassed, why did she have to be so damn horny?

Maya leaned back in her chair and studied Jessie. "That's...interesting..." The dark haired woman muttered, never taking her eyes off of Jessie.

Jessie awkwardly cleared her throat. "So the rock, what happened?"

Maya eyed Jessie up and down before shaking her head a little to continue her story.

"To be honest, I'm not really sure what happened. I think that rock had something in it. Some sort of...power, or something. And now that power is in me."

Jessie blinked a few times as she tried to understand what her neighbor was saying.

"Okay...What do you mean by power?"

"It's hard to explain. It's not just one thing. I've been practicing and trying to figure out exactly what this is ever since it happened. But...here, watch this."

Maya looked down at the coffee table seated between them and raised her hand towards a small book about various types of cocktails to make for parties. She squinted her eyes slightly as if concentrating, and to Jessie's astonishment, the book began to slowly float up into the air.

"Woah!" Jessie stared wide eyed at the book.

"I know!" Maya laughed.

Jessie looked back and forth from the hovering book to Maya before standing up from the couch to get a closer look.

"This...this is some sort of joke right?" Jessie waved her hand under the book but met no resistance. She pressed down atop it, and it had a little give, but she ultimately could not get it to budge from its position. "How...how are you doing this?"

"It was that rock! I can feel something inside of me now. It's like it's opening up some new sense I didn't know I had! If I use that sense I can do things like this!" Jessie jumped back with a surprised yelp when the book suddenly flipped open on its own and fluttered its pages back and forth. "I can also feel things from people I haven't felt before. If I focus it's almost like I can sense their energy or something."

Jessie was still trying to comprehend what was happening. Her hot new neighbor could also use magic? Wait, could she read her thoughts?

"By sense their energy, you don't mean like, read my thoughts. Right?"

Maya laughed, and Jessie relaxed a little.

"No no, nothing like that. It's almost like I can feel emotions or something, but its a bit more than that." Maya once again looked Jessie up and down with a smirk. "Like right now, I can sense how hot you think this all is."

"I...what...well hang on..." Jessie blushed and fumbled with her words.

"Oh my god, you look so cute when you're flustered." Maya laughed and leaned back in her chair as she continued to observe Jessie.

"I...well...thanks." Jessie tried to compose herself and stop blabbering. "Okay, so you're like a witch now, or something. Why did you decide to tell me?"

Maya seemed to consider Jessie's question for a moment as if she had not really thought about why up until now. "Well, I haven't told anybody else yet. And you were there when I found that rock, and...Well to be honest, out of all the people I've met since moving here, I like you the most."

Jessie was not expecting that answer.

"Me?" She laughed and shook her head. "Well...great! I like you a lot too." Maya smirked and Jessie could tell that she was still blushing. "So if you haven't told anybody else yet about your new magic or whatever, does that mean you haven't tested it on other people yet?"

Maya tilted her head and a sly smile began to creep up her lips. "No, I haven't. At least not yet..."

Jessie bit her lip and leaned forwards. "You can test them on me...if you want."

"Oh really?" Maya smiled devilishly and arched an eyebrow.

"Ooh!" Jessie jumped up from the couch in surprise as she felt an invisible hand goose her ass through the cushion.

"Are you sure?" Maya asked.

Jessie was about to speak, but instead just nodded with a smile.

"Alright then." Maya settled back into her chair and once again studied Jessie as a lion might study their prey.
