Masroora continues to pry

"If it's a boy you're using protection, right?"

"Mom."

"What? That's a valid concern. You're too young to be worrying about kids."

"Weren't you younger when you had me?"

"Yes, and I don't regret a thing about that," Masroora said with a guaranteeing point. "But I didn't raise you with the mindset that your life was going to revolve around parenting a child."

Fair enough, Sabiyya conceeded.

"So I don't have to worry about grand-kids?"

"No, not going to happen."

"Ah, so it's a girl then."

"I didn't say that."

"Not with your words, you did with your body just now."

Sabiyya knit her brow. Surely her mother was bluffing. She hadn't done anything to give that away.

"It's alright, I'm okay with that," Masroora assured her. "I'm not the homophobe your great-uncle was. Better yet, it puts my fears of you getting pregnant to rest."

"Is that all that being a parent is?" Sabiyya said, half-jesting. "Guiding your daughter on the path that best avoids premature pregnancy?"

"Hey, if that's your take on it, then I can leave the cleaning, cooking, and caring to you from now on."

"I kid, mom."

"I know sweetheart." Masroora looked off in thought before one end of her mouth curled down.

"What's the matter?"

"Hm, I may not have to worry about you making me a grandmother, but your sisters are another story. Nasreen at least gives me the impression that she knows what she's doing. Asmaa on the other hand... Even better, she's all the way over in Sweden." Masroora pursed her lips.

"I'm sure she'll come back fine."

"She probably will. Still, a mother worries.

"How many times have you done it with her?"

"What?"

"Your friend that was going to visit; how many times have you done it with her?"

"Never, but that's not something you ask-"

Masroora gasped. "Have you never been with a woman before?"

"Mom, I- wait have you?"

"Of course."

"What?!"
