Chapter 69
by SilverSpectre006
Later that day...
Making the most of free time
"So, where to now girls, any chance either of ya need a man to walk you home?"
Stacy and Cindy both giggled while Viola rolled her eyes and grinned. "We're fine Gary, but thanks for the offer anyway. You'll make any future gf blush while holding the door for her."
"Bet." He smiled, leaning back into his booth as the three girls passed by and exited the bar. Viola flinched, having to rub her eyes to adjust to the daylight. Barely noon by now but their was a huge contrast between the dimly lit bar with a monotone tv playing sports and the bright sun shining down onto your face with traffic and honking horns and sirens going off everywhere. The city life is the life for me, bleh.
"I believe this is where we each part ways then?" Cindy asked, adjusting her purse sling over her shoulder.
"Guess so, where we all depart and live our lives separately." Stacy answered.
"Well, that is one way to put it. 'Till tomorrow that is?"
"'Till tomorrow love." Stacy grinned, waving as she walked down the street. "Bye!"
"Farewell! Oh dear, guess that leaves us now don't it?"
Viola shrugged, heading over to the parking building around the block with Cindy at her side. "Usually there's that saying about how we all hate Monday's, but so far I can say getting off work early is a decent start."
"Agreed. P'raps if luck be with us we will see a repeat performance come tomorrow. Wouldn't doubt it, with Randall in charge that is."
"Pfft, like lightning would strike twice. I struggle just to get the holidays off after leaving them a two month heads up, I doubt we would get that lucky."
"That so?" Cindy paused once they were entering the building before extending her hand. "Tell you what, let's add a bit of dosh to that. Say tomorrow is called off, you owe me a cuppa."
"Question, by dosh you mean..."
"Pounds, money, benjamins, forget it. Point is, if I'm right and we get Tuesday off, then a cuppa will be owed to yours truly."
"Ahh." Viola chuckled as Cindy nodded her head, beaming. "And if I'm right and Randall proves to be competent, then you owe me one?"
"That is correct. Deal?"
Viola looked down at the offer before glancing up to meet her eyes and grinning back, taking her hand and shaking it. "Deal!"
"Righto, this lot here is where I'm parked. See who the winner is then, yes? Here," She paused, fishing out her Iphone and searching her contact before presenting it. "My number, so that we know who owes who."
"Pfft, nice phone." Viola mocked, pulling out her Samsung. "Shame it's no good." Both girls exchanged silly faces as they did numbers before pulling apart. "Well, we'll see tomorrow then. See ya then at work!" Viola smirked.
"Don't bother, you'll be expecting a call more like. Ta ta!" Cindy grinned as Viola took the elevator, waving goodbye until the doors closed. Well, nice to be getting along with someone at work.
Making the drive back home, however...
