Magical moments

The craft glided through the clouds as smooth as a bird. The wings carved out slices, leaving trails like never-ending tunnels. You looked out in awe, your friends approaching behind you with similar reactions. The pilot had a knowing smile, he lived for these moments and you could see why.

As wood creaked and it began to level out, it suddenly broke through the layer of clouds that had been hiding the beauty of the world. Sparkling blue both above and below, the ocean and the sky. You rushed to the edge of the platform, leaning against the fence to look below.

The sounds around you sank into the back of your mind, replaced by the deepest calm as you witnessed beauty you had never seen before. Such adventures had you witnessed, but now you were truly free.
Far below amongst the waves you could make out islands with an abundance of grassy hills with flowers of every imaginable color. Goats grazed the fields, and a few looked up with mild interest at the airship and it's inhabitants passing slowly overhead.

The wind whistled past you, and your love walked up behind you to surround you in her arms, leaning her chin on your shoulder. "It's beautiful, everything's so surreal,"
You nodded agreement, wrapping an arm around her waist, letting her join you against the railing. "Eternal utopia, forever changing, but always just as wonderful. The perfect end, if ever there was one, to a life well lived."
She chuckled with her usual sparkling eyes. "You're right."
You gave her a curious glance for her chuckle, to which she gave you her own. "I find it funny that we never knew how perfect things would be. People would always argue that things could never be this way, and now I've seen it with my own eyes."
You leaned your head on hers and let the day pass that way, exchanging comments on the beauty of the landscape and the occasional passing bird as the ship soared through time. So quickly did the time pass that sunset caught you be surprise, and chilly winds began to set in. You all went back inside, leaving the captain at his post, his gaze never wavering. "Does he ever sleep?" you pondered aloud, to which Adin answered, "Why would he ever need to?" as he chopped up carrots for a stew.
You raised an eyebrow at your friends, they shrugged. With all they'd seen it wasn't beyond the realm of possibility to think of a world where sleep wasn't necessary. Eva sat down at the table, "It almost feels familiar...even though I've never been here before." You sat across from her and <your love's name> sat next to you. Brayden leaned against the last chair, looking out the window with a far-off gaze. "She's right, it's...nostalgic. Reminds me of times I've wanted to remember and forget. Almost the feeling of crying when you're not sure whether you want to or not, whether the tears you drop are full of the deepest satisfaction or the darkest depression."
