Madeleine, nerdy girl who found compendium in the library

Madeleine was shy and nerdy girl. She was studying in the library for the exam and searching for some book about history of clothing in medieval era (she enrolled in Medieval studies). Suddenly she found this mysterious dusty book with the title: "Clothing Compendium". Maybe there she will find some information about her subject matter? But unfortunately this book didn't contain anything about medieval garments - there was some really weird stuff it it...

The book was divided into chapters - each corresponding to different social situations. For example, when she opened the book on the chapter "Beachwear and smiwear" she found different photos of men and women. And just as if it were some stupid book for children there were separate pictures of pieces of clothing attached to these photos of men and women by pins. What's more, next to these images the text claimed something like 'A man should wear shorts with sandals' and so on. Madeleine thought that the book was a stupid joke.

She unpinned a picture of one-piece bikini from the women's photo to see what was beneath and she realized that this was actually a nude photograph.

"What pervert designed this book?" Thought Madeleine.

Then she saw the text written next to the picture: "Women don't usually wear any swimwear".

"Duh, of course they don't..." Thought Madeleine, still holding the pin with the picture of one-piece swimsuit, not realizing that the reality had shifted in the meantime. She suddenly became oblivious to the fact that women ever wore any kind of clothing to the beach or to the pool.

She started reading other chapters in the book. The most interesting part was the section 'Fashion and Prohibited Clothes'. Of course, there was also a photograph of naked woman and man in this chapter. The text read: "It is not acceptable for man or woman to be naked in public", which seemed logical enough.

Madeleine realized that she was still holding a pin with the picture of one-piece bikini. Although, now she didn't know what was the purpose of this piece of clothing. She didn't know what to do with it, so she decided to pin it to the photograph of naked woman.

She didn't realize but the text changed and now itread: "It is not acceptable for man to be naked and for woman to cover her body with swimwear in public".

"Gross" Thought Madeleine, her mind now magically changed "I would rather be naked than wear THAT!"

"Naked women are better then those who wear some weird stuff..." Thought Madeleine in defense of her choice.

She kept going through the rest of the book and noticed that there were pictures of men and women wearing a lot of different pieces of clothing. For example, there were women with skirts up to knees and men with bare chests, men and women with tuxedos and women with pantyhose, etc. Each time she saw something new, she became more bewildered - she couldn't understand what kind of book it actually is...

"Oh well," she thought, "It's just another stupid thing in the library, nothing more than that." She didn't realize that she was already very much involved in the process of rewriting the clothing rulebook.
