Chapter 9 by FredWeasleyLives1 FredWeasleyLives1

What happens next?

Lunch with my mentor

So much has happened in my new life. I have become somewhat of a superhero after knocking out the clown that abused me all of those years. I am getting into the swing of things in my new job at Wayne Enterprises thanks largely to Bruce Wayne. I am making a lot of new friends. While, I am on the subject of Bruce Wayne, I have just found out that he is Batman. It is going to be a burden holding onto that secret but I know that I have to because of everything I owe Mr. Wayne. Most importantly, my lesbian girlfriend and I are talking about getting married.

My time in Arkham was bearable largely due to my favorite doctor Joan Leland. She wears short black hair and glasses. Even after all the crimes I committed, she never judged me. She would always listen. She would always have a hug ready when I needed one. When I was declared sane, the two of us became fast friends. I often have meals at her house. Today we are having dinner together at a pizzeria close to Wayne Enterprises. She is quite interested about everything happening in my life, especially my run in with the clown.

"So you knocked him out with one punch?" Joan marveled.

"The horseshoe in my boxing glove helped," I laughed.

"Ingenious," Joan cheered.

"Say, there is something that I would like to talk to you about," I stated to lower the mood.

"What?" Joan replies while lightly closing her right hand over mine to show that I have her complete attention.

"I had a weird dream recently," I put out with a sigh.

The doctor just nods her head for me to continue.

"I dreamed that I was a ghost and met a future version of myself," I inform my friend.

"I have heard stranger," the good doctor laughs.

"That wasn't the strange part," I interrupted. "She was pregnant. That seems kind of a strange dream for me to have considering the fact that Pam and I are both women."

"Congratulations!" Joan blurts out while raising her glass of Pepsi in a toast.

"For what?" I ask with a confused look on my face.

"For joining the ranks of womanhood," Joan explains. "Harleen, I know that you are a lesbian, but that doesn't change the fact that you are a woman with the same urges as the rest of us females."

I think about it for a couple of seconds and I know that what my friend has said makes sense.

"You know, being a lesbian doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility of children," Joan advised. "Have you considered artificial insemination?"

"Isn't a needle involved?" I asked with a shudder since I hate needles.

"Have you talked with Pam about this?" my friend questions which answered my previous question since she ignored it completely.

"No," I answer truthfully.

"I would I were you," Joan urged me.

"Okay," I agreed. "Speaking of Pam, we are talking about getting married soon. Would you like to come? It would mean a lot to me."

Joan thinks about it for a short time. I know that she doesn't agree completely with the concept of a lesbian wedding, but she accepts my invitation because of our friendship. I am grateful to have such a good friend.

Trouble is coming
