Lunch with Ruby

“How’s it going,” you ask Ruby, pulling up to her table. She’s scrolling through her Insta feed, dropping hearts on a half-dozen food-blog type posts.

“It’s great!” she says, beaming at you. “I managed to fit in a workout between math and lunch, so I’m all ready for this meal.” She gestures at the two plates of food heaped up in front of her.

“Wow,” you say, taking it in. “You sure you can finish all that? You sure you want to finish all that? The cafeteria food isn’t that good, is it?”

“You know, I’ve always said that a little gratitude goes a long way, but maybe you have a point, and the cafeteria food is just trash,” she says, touching your arm. She points at the two cookies stacked up on the side of the plate. “Feel free to have those. Junk food, trash food. I got them in a moment of weakness.”

“Well, at least it’s healthy food,” you say. One of her plates is brimming with colors—it looks like a kind of fruit salad with a bunch of other veggies thrown in, while the other is a more traditional chicken-steak, potatoes, and broccoli meal. You look down at the sandwich that you have, and it feels a little insufficient.

“Yeah, you should eat up,” Ruby says, urging you back towards the food line with a touch to the back. “You’re a growing boy, aren’t you?”

“Under certain circumstances,” you say, and Ruby glances at your cock for a moment before her eyes return to yours, looking awfully sheepish. “But yeah, you have a point… After this, I’ve got psychology, and then chem lab, and then soccer practice… Man, dinner’s going to be at like 9 pm!”

“Exactly! Get yourself a second plate,” she says. “Your only one is looking lonely there.”

“I guess I wouldn’t want to leave it third wheeling,” you say, and you head out to grab another.

You return a minute later with a second plate—a serving of the chicken-steak that Ruby had that looked rather appetizing, and the two of you dig in with gusto. Between mouthfuls of food, you trade comments about your first few days in college, and you discover that Ruby’s been experimenting with a bunch of classes, hating her roommate’s guts, and most importantly, living a single life.

“Hey, at least you’ve still got food to keep you company,” you say, and Ruby laughs, punching you quick.

“Eating’s important,” she says. “It’s important that a man be able to eat a big lunch, but if he can eat a woman out too?” Her eyes glimmer in the incandescent lights, her hand coming to a rest on your arm again. “Well, then he’s won my heart."
