Chapter 11 by ThekNight ThekNight

Who was this other person?

Lt. Cooper

Realizing the person you had just knocked to the floor was your superior officer was a nasty shock of the worst kind. Her eyes screamed **** and at that point you contemplated Hari Kari to stop that gaze.

Through Gritted Teeth she growled, "What is the meaning of this?".

You stole a glance of Sarah. She had look same look of apprehension you sensed you wore. Everyone was scared of the lieutenant. Not because anyone was scared of pissing her off or disappointing her, but she seemed to have ways of making solders life a different kind of hell. A kind that involved bullshit duties and embarrassing assignments. Sarah seemed as uncertain as you of uttering a reply. Shortly though, the feel of unnerving silence overcame your fear of saying something wrong.

"Well, um, Lieutenant, you see..." you began.

"Aww, me and Tank were just passing our off time sparing in the dojo..." Sarah finished for you. "I seem to be to much for him to handle and now he thinks he sprained a muscle in his back."

you quickly saw the genius of her half truth. The lieutenant was bound by regulations to make sure solders under her command sought medical attention before any other actions were taken. Sarah realized this and used the book (one of Lt. Coopers strongest allies) against her.

If possible the Lt. looked pissed more now than before. "Then I suggest you escort Mr. Najiin to the sickbay."

Sarah helped you to your feet. The pain on your face was only slightly exaggerated.

Cooper stood up and started up the way she was heading. "... And Ortega, Come see me in my waiting room in 10 minutes."

The look on Sarah's face made you think that for a solder that had been decorated for single handedly fighting off twelve rebels in the Scillian Seven revolt, she would give anything to fight those odds again than to see the Lt. in a few short minutes.

To Sickbay. Right?
