Look more closely at the stew

Curiosity seizes you. You creep towards the kettle, taking care to avoid the floorboards that seems to squeak louder than thunderclaps. As you approach, the content of the pot seems to glow with an ominous aura. The smell is almost enough to make you gag. You look over the pot and see a chunky mixture of some herbs you recognize from what the man had gathered earlier and several things you can't place. Above on the mantle you spot an open book. You snatch it from its resting spot and read what you assume to be a recipe for what lies before you.

"Potion of Power"

-2 leeks -1 pinch of salt -1 handful tainted silver -2 cups of melted wax -1 frogs liver -1 demon heart

Potion of power? That sounds pretty good... maybe I should drink some, it could help me fight against this sorcerer.
