Let Bob down easy

You put Shannon’s phone back in her purse, and give her one last look in the mirror. Still stunning.

Talking to yourself was the right move. Who else can you trust so completely? Tomorrow, Sam - Shannon - and Sam are going to fix this. For now, you just have to drive Shannon home.

You might be driving a stranger’s body, but in the internet age you can know all about someone using just her fingerprint and her phone. Shannon lives about 15 minutes away.

Your reach into her purse. Keys. Easy. But…

You look at the mirror again. Shannon’s eyes are still a little pink from crying, and they seem to speak to you. “Don’t mess my life up,” they say. It's your life too, you realize, at least until you get out of her. You have to play the part.

If you run out on Bob without saying anything, you’re still going to have to see him at work for god knows how long. Until you fix this mess. You need to handle this like the proper, grown-up lady Shannon must be, not like a frat bro trying to avoid a regrettable hookup.

You walk out of the ladies room with with Shannon’s head held high. Even in her office outfit, you see men turning to look at Shannon as you walk by. You look back at one of them, and he turns away quickly, staring down at his drink.

Bob is still sitting at the same spot at the bar. You walk up next to him.

“Shannon! I was beginning to wonder if you were going to come back,” Bob smiles at you. You put a hand on his shoulder, and you feel the thrilling feeling in Shannon’s body again.

“Oh, Bob, this has been wonderful, but something important just came up. I have to go home,” you say gently, returning Bob’s smile. You take your hand away, and the feeling fades. But some of it lingers.

“Really? But we hardly- ...are you at least going to try the drink?” Bob pleads. He looks so sad. You would be too, if Shannon was leaving you.
