Chapter 3
by malk03
Do you really want to meet the chief?
Let's meet the Chief
If these natives were hostile they would have done something by now, you decide, and step into the chief's hut.
"Dammit! I told you no interuptions!" The man said, sporting an English accent, unlike Conan. He turns to face you, and his eyes widen in surprise. He's an older man, probably early fifties. His silky black hair turning gray and wiry, but still in good form. His bare chest was strong and his abs defined, he had a body like a twenty year old. "Who the hell are you?"
"Um...I'm Jon."
The hut is a nice size, a fluffy bed to one side, a shaky wooden desk on another, and a pair of chairs in the center. You sit across from Cheif.
"Well, bad luck, Jon. We're just a small village, one of the few places that haven't been taken over by the modern world." Chief says after you tell him your story. "We won't be able to get you home..."
"What? You can't tell me you don't even have a phone!"
"...right away. We get a boat that comes by every two weeks that gives us some things we need. And they just came and went yesterday. Once they come back we can get you on that boat, and on your way home."
You hang your head. Two weeks on a primitive island? This was fucked up, just plain fucked up. "What am I supposed to do for that long? I have a job...my friends are going to freak out when they realize I disappeared. My family will think I'm dead!"
Chief nodded sympathetically, "It's tough, Jon, but we'll take care of you for this time. This does not have to be the worst two weeks in your life...in fact, you may enjoy it."
Jon snorted, "No offense, but there doesn't seem like a lot to keep my mind off of my situation here."
Chief smiled, "You know, you are lucky. Only half of our population is in this village right now, and we are only here at this particular time of the year. Had this been any other week...we wouldn't have seen you, and you may not have found our other village. No outsider has ever seen this spot before. If you wish I can have someone take you to the other village...who knows, maybe another boat will stop by soon, it happens. But right now we are preparing a special festival, if you would like to stay here for the next few days you will be our guest of honor and be able to join it...an honor no one has had before."
Should you stay or should you go?
