Chapter 4 by SpiderQueen18 SpiderQueen18

Where will Adalina go?

Let's find an Inn and take care of lodgings

Adalina watched the guardsman depart from her, with narrowed eyes before finally turning back toward the city. She didn't know the city that well but it was still early and she had plenty of time to settle her first priority. Lodging. She meandered into the city proper and moved away from the docks, the occasional stare or whisper following her as she passed but it never turned into conflict. Most of the people she passed were busy going about their own business, with the occasional sighting of another of the adventuring sort or another unusual race of some kind. The city was still primarily human, however, so such sightings were infrequent as she made her way toward the Markets.

She browsed open wares and looked at the shops as she passed, but had trouble finding an Inn to stay at until she took the time to ask a Merchant. Of course she had to purchase something from them to butter them up to her, as it was more difficult to get assistance without such small bribes. It was a rather nice silken scarf that matched her eyes, so she wasn't too hurt by the need to purchase. The Inn in question was named The Gilded Lily, a bit fruity for her tastes in name but beggars can't be choosers.

When she finally arrived, it was a building a couple streets away from the open markets. It was more toward the upscale but she had plenty of gold to spare for simple room and board. When she entered the inn she was greeted by the smells of the kitchen preparing lunch early and the warmth of the hearth fire. It wasn't terribly busy considering the time of day, with only a matronly woman with impressive bosom managing the bar, and one waitress with a slender physique and little bust to speak of. She couldn't decide which she preferred, as she licked her lips with the sight before casting her gaze around to the other patrons.

There was a man sitting in an armchair by the fire, seemingly asleep with a book closed on his lap. She couldn't get a good look from her current vantage but she didn't care too much. He was a non-threat. There was also a pair of soldier-looking fellows at a table having an early drink, not uniformed but she recognized the sort; potential trouble if she wasn't careful.

She strode over to the bar and leaned against it with her swordhand free to pull the blade if she required it. Old habits died hard. She looked over the busty woman, probably in her later 30's or early 40's and probably with a kid or two of her own. She was thick but must have dropped the weight particularly quickly after as she wasn't particularly fat (except her tits of course). A delightful beauty mark on the left breast that just begged to be examined closer...but now Adalina's mind was wandering. She had been too long at sea.

Adalina offered a charming smile and looks into the brunette matron's amber eyes. "Mornin', I'm just into town and looking for a place to stay. Perhaps you might be willing to oblige me with a room?"

The woman looked Adalina up and down, not with the same degree of attraction Adalina had to her but looking her over to assess potential trouble and danger. She set down the rag she had been using to wipe down the counter-top, letting out a sigh. "5 gold a night for you, with a 10 gold security deposit. I don't want any trouble out of you or I'll see you arrested."

The price was steep, much more than Adalina had expected even if it was Absalom, but then she was a half-fiend. She lifted a hand to stroke her chin seemingly in thought before nodding. "If it makes you feel any better I'm devil-blooded, not demon-blooded. I won't be causing any trouble that doesn't try to find me first." She tilted her head and looked in the direction of the boys before turning her head back to the woman with a pointed look. A quick motion with her free hand tugged free a platinum coin and a gold piece, rolling them onto the counter for the woman. "Easy enough to keep me out of trouble as long as there's good food and drink, and perhaps a bit to keep my mind occupied when I'm not out on the town." There was just a hint of innuendo there, but only a hint, as she looked toward the waitress. The woman didn't say anything, however, just took the coins and slid them into her bodice. "M'names Isabella Stormkeeper. M'husband is Rodney Stormkeeper. Lunch's at noon and dinner's served when the sun hits the horizon. Your room is the last door on the left." She bent over and reached under the counter to grab a key which she slid across the counter to Adalina.

Well! Adalina has lodgings, now what?
