Joyce walked across the muddy street to the boardwalk leading to the office of Leonard Murphy with an air of confidence and purpose. More than a few heads turned as the young beauty passed by on her way towards the law office. Even under the dust from her long travels, her angular features, pale skin and sparkling green eyes shone through. Joyce made no indication that she noticed the attention she garnered, her focus was on her business with Mr. Murphy and the contents of the letter.

Joyce opened the door and stepped into the small office, closing it behind her. The room was barely large enough to hold a small desk, a filing cabinet and three chairs, one of which was occupied by a young man wearing a grey vest over a white shirt that the sleeves had been rolled up. The man looked up at Joyce and was taken aback by the stunning young woman standing in front of the desk.

"I'm here to see Mr. Murphy," Joyce said as if expecting the young man to go to another office to summon his employer.

"I... I'm Leonard Murphy," he managed with only a small amount of confusion in his voice.
