I take a picture of it as a reference to imitate on her blank check, then I browse her calendar for the rest of the month.

There are lots of meetings, more than usual actually. I wonder what that is about. Board meetings, one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, several more presentations are noted. A couple more lunch meetings with AmorFik, about once a week, which is more than usual as well. A few days are booked solid with meetings. One weekend is blocked for ‘Business Trip’ with no details. A few days are blocked as ‘Personal Day’, which could be for anything. The most unusual thing is a charity gala in two weeks.{if victoria_birthday = true} I sip my pretty darn good espresso and grin at the space where there used to be a reminder to call Mother.

I sip my pretty darn good espresso. The one I made for her is still sitting cold in her office. {endif}Victoria doesn’t mind me drinking the brewed coffee, but she would get steamed if I made espressos for myself everyday. Good for her. Maybe I'll make another.

When Victoria eventually returns, she still seems in a bad mood. {if victoria_birthday = true}She starts her warpath walk through the cubicles, searching out any infraction of company policy to bludgeon employees with, or if none are found, she will single out individuals as being unprofessional for desk clutter, unsightly cable management, or the like. {else}She immediately removes the old espresso from her office and declares that the espresso machine needs to be descaled. I take my cue and start working on that.{endif}
