Laruen schemes
Today was Friday and Lauren knew exactly what would make the perfect capstone for the week. She was going to play a little game of cupid with her brother and setup the most romantic date for them. Picking up her laptop she frowned seeing the battery was dead, she was too worked up last night and forgot to plug it in. Setting it up to charge she went into her brothers' room and turned the monitor on and it should have surprised her but it didn’t that Eric had the passwords cached for his bank website that he had on the screen. Her hand moves the mouse to open a new tab when curiosity got the better of her and she logged into his account. It looked like him and Jordan did not have a joint account or at least not one here. Though what she saw was an odd story for his account balances. Sure, his bank account only had a few hundred dollars in it and that would track with how him and Jordan have been fighting about money, but he was doing well with his savings. Expanding the list under savings she pieced it together, money had been tight because he had been putting money into a savings account titled wedding. It looked like her big brother had setup his salary to be split between a checking account, a savings account and a second savings account for a wedding he wanted to be able to afford. “You big lug, I can see you are trying to do the right thing. Jordan doesn’t sound like she has much of a family to help with the costs for this, but he should know that the poor girl is blaming herself for not working till this new job.” Lauren got a little misty-eyed thinking how her brother wanted to surprise his bride to be with the wedding she dreamed of and thought she couldn’t afford. “Well I know how to fix this!” She said as she opened a new browser going to flowers.com and ordering a dozen red roses for Jordan to go to her work this afternoon. Writing on the card “Things are tough, but will get through this together.”
“Step one complete, we got this!” Lauren praised herself.
“Now for a venue” Lauren said as she looked for places, she thought were swanky and romantic. “Hmm this one is pricy, but it fits what I want for them. Eleven Madison Park, soaring ceilings, marble walls and dramatic windows, it is one of the country’s most expensive restaurants at around three hundred and thirty-five dollars a person before ****, but they also will not have to pay for parking. Oh and no tipping! Prepare yourself girl you are going to be wined and dined tonight, enjoy the whole experience of four-hour dining. It is expensive, but we are talking about getting the two of them back on track.” Typing away at the keyboard Lauren did a little more research, a place like this would be hard to get into. “It looked like the New York times did a piece on the location a few years ago, some little white lies for a good cause wouldn’t hurt. Let's see if I can do this.” Pulling out her phone Lauren sent some information over to one of her coworkers who owed her a favor. She tried to do things on her own, but everyone in a while she would get those, she helped to return the favor. After working out the details she gave Eleven Madison Park the listed front of house manager a call on his personal line. “Good morning, yes I’m with the New York times and we were giving you a call to see if this location wanted to do a follow up piece to the article, we posted a few years ago.”
“Yes, you would?”
“Oh good, no I’m afraid next week wont due or reviewer wanted a last-minute appointment.”
“Why? To make sure you don’t have time to prepare something special just because they are showing up.”
“You believe this is unusual?”
“Well, if you check in the main office, you should have gotten a fax about this this morning.”
“Yes, I will hold.”
“You, have it?”
“Oh I agree with you, who uses a fax machine in this day and age. Course this is a newspaper.”
“Yes, seven O’clock tonight would be perfect.”
“His name is Eric; Eric Morrison and he will be having a date with him.”
The manger on the other end hung up and Lauren had a big toothy grin on her face.
“Step two done!”
For the rest of the morning and early afternoon Lauren moved about in the master bedroom trying to pick out the perfect outfits for the couple. Her brother’s selection was much easier. She picked out a nice suit that looked like it hadn’t been worn in a while and still had the dry-cleaning bag around it. Some socks, nice shoes and red tie to match his date. For Jordan it took much longer to make sure everything would be just right. A red split front mermaid style dress, garter belt, nude thigh high stockings with lace trim to connect to them, a pair of five-inch strappy sandal heels, a black bustier corset and a sexy pair of lace red thong panties. She was surprised she couldn’t find a jewelry box, while she knew Jordan hadn’t been wearing any earrings or jewelry, she can tell her ears were pierced, it was odd. So she went to her suitcase and figured she would loan her a pair of her dangling earrings, a nice bracelet and a gold pendant that she had gotten from her mom. “She is going to kill in this outfit, once I we put her hair up to show off that slender neck of hers.” Laying all the clothes for Jordan on the bed she covered them with the blanket, leaving the shoes at the foot of the bed and then brought her brothers suit out to the living room, hanging it up.
“Step three complete!”
Pulling out her phone she called her brother. “Don’t have time to talk sis, in the middle of something.”
“If you took the time to answer, you have the time. This is important!”
“This weekend we are going shopping, you have two options. One you come with us, I would love to have you with us all day at the mall or Two you stop by the atm and pick us up some cash.”
“Nope, not going to happen. So how much do you need?” Eric said wanting this line of thought gone. He remembered going shopping with his mother and sister when they were little. It was never something he enjoyed and would rather never do it again. He was willing to throw Jordan on that grenade.
“Say a few hundred, or whatever you can spare.”
“Lauren.. That is a lot of money.”
“That’s fine big bro, I just figured you would want me out of your hair and the more you give me the longer we can be away.”
“Good arguments, deal. Now I really do have to go, is there anything else?”
“You can go back to work, but you have plans for tonight.”
“Sure, you got it, see later.” Eric said as he hung up.
Sliding her phone into her back pocket Lauren did a little dance as her phone beeped. Pulling it back out she saw the confirmation for the reservation in the email account her friend setup for her along with sending the fax. “Oh this just got better, I didn’t even think that they were going to comp the meal for the review! I just might be the best planner ever.”
