Chapter 5 by Throne65 Throne65

Which fairy tale is this world based on? Or myth? Or classic literature?

Lady Godiva

Sora landed the ship near a large castle near a small procession of guards. At their front was a woman dressed in royal clothing. She made a small curtsey as the four exited their ship. "Greeting to you, Keybearers. I am the Lady of this castle. Call me Godiva."

"Hi there!" Sora greeted cheerfully. "I'm Sora. This is Kairi, Roxas, and Namine."

"So nice to receive you!" Godiva said. "Follow me to the throne room."

The guards left while the four Keybearers followed Godiva to the throne room. Inside was a lavish feast and a man in his own royal clothes. The man looked extremely annoyed by the intrusion.

"Please, dig into our food!" Godiva said. "We had this prepared for your arrival!"

The four sat down and began to eat while the man at the head of the table scoffed. "All this food, wasted on commoners. How low has this family fallen?"

"Leofric, these are the Keybearers!" Godiva scolded. "They're great heroes on their kingdoms!"

Leofric made a grunt of disapproval. "First, you try to lecture me on taxes. Now, we're allowing anyone with a sword to eat at our table. What's next for your obsession with peasants?"

"Hey! We're not peasants!" Roxas shouted with a mouthful of food.

"Should we come back some other time?" Kairi asked.

"No, stay!" Godiva said. "By all means, let my husband know how he's perceived outside of his precious castle!"

"Oh, wonderful!" Leofric said sarcastically. "As if my wife telling me what to do isn't enough!"

Godiva shot up from her seat. "You are impossible! What would it take for you to have a little compassion for your subjects or your wife?"

Leofric pretended to think deeply about the question. "I don't know. Maybe if you stripped naked and rode around the city?"

"Deal!"

Wait, what?
