Kim tricks the spirits

“Wait, wait! I have something to confess. I’m not a spirit; I’m a human! I got here by accident and then lost my clothes and, anyway, I can’t do any more tests! Please, take me to your boss so he can send me home.” The spirits seemed confused. They huddled with each other and whispered.

“All right, We’ll take you to Morpheus,” said the blonde.

“Yes!”

“But…”

“But?”

“You see, having a real human here is a once in a lifetime opportunity...” Kim rolled her eyes, not this again. “...Your perspective on our nightmares is quite valuable. We’ll take you to Morpheus after we do one more test, ok?” The redhead snapped her fingers and a square of light appeared. “See? He’s there. Just have to cross that door. Which we’ll do after one more test.”

Were they serious? Why was everyone on this building obsessed with her? Kim had half a mind to tell them where they could stick their test. What if they demanded another one after this one was done, and then another? How could she trust them? Kim had a better idea. “Ok. But I have a proposal. We only do one more test, so why not make it a big one?” Kim walked next to the spirits and huddled between them.

“Good point. Let’s go straight to the big guns. Naked on live television!”

Kim shook her head. “You seem fixated on humiliation. That’s old school. No one on Earth is afraid of a little shame anymore. No, there is something else that every woman fears.”

“What is it?” they asked in unison.

Kim watched their faces. They hung to her every word. “Tentacles. Being trapped and fondled and tickled by a big, scary tentacle monster is the most powerful fear that every woman, and dare I say, that every man, has deep in their hearts.”

“Really? But that’s …weird, I never heard of anyone being afraid of that.”

“That’s why your dreams are failing. You are not keeping up with the times. Now, do you have any place where we could test that nightmare?”

“Yes, the realm of the Kraken King. That ought to have all the tentacles we need.”

“Great. Open a portal and let’s get started.”

“Are you sure you are up to this?”

“Sure. Everything for science, right?”

“Right.” The sisters snapped their fingers. A rectangular window appeared. On the other side was a giant wall of tentacles. “Wherever you are ready- Whoa!”

With all three spirits facing away from her, it was trivial for Kim to push them in. The blonde and redhead fell without knowing what happened. The brunette tried to grab Kim, but too late. Her hand slipped, and she fell in. Kim looked down at them. The kraken’s tentacles had already taken their togas and were rubbing the spirit’s naked bodies against each other. They didn’t seem to enjoy that one bit. Their faces were more flustered than Kim’s had been. “Tell me, how does THAT feel like?” She laughed and stepped back. “Did I do that? Wow, go Kimmy!”

Kim stepped in front of the door of light and took a deep breath. Soon, it would be over, hopefully. She was still nervous about going in with nothing but what she was holding in her fists. Huh, her hands were clutching something, what was it? Her cellphone, she forgot that she had it this whole time. Not that it would have been any use. Her other hand also held something; it was …a diamond ring? She must have taken it out of the spirit’s hand before she fell.

That thing looked valuable; more than a month’s pay at least. “After all I’ve been through, I deserve a prize or something...” Kim wanted to take it, but wearing a stolen ring in front of Morpheus was liable to get her into trouble. It’s not like she had any place to hide it …or did she?
