Kelly becomes sarcastic

“Well, at least I know what you two were doing last night,” the redhead chuckles as she pours herself a cup of coffee.

“It wasn’t like that at all…” you try to explain.

Andi jumps in. “We went to the Family Fun Center, then came back and watched Labyrinth, then I went to my room and John went to his. We didn’t do anything.”

Kelly looks first at you, then at Andi, then back at you with a look of both disbelief and approval. “I have to say this for you, John, either you move quickly or you two have it bad.” With that, she raises her coffee cup in a mock toast, then goes back upstairs to her room.

You look over at Andi. “Is she always like this?”

“She’s always been a bit dramatic.” Then Andi lowers her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “I know she has no shortage of lovers, but I don’t think anyone has ever managed to capture her heart or want her for more than her body.”

Well, you think to yourself, she does have a lovely body at that. Part of you wonders if you should try to talk to Kelly, maybe cheer her up a bit. As you mull this over, you notice Andi out of the corner of your eye. She’s starting to look a bit worried and upset as well, as if something is troubling her too.
