Just a little while

You head up hill in hopes of finding anything worth while. You walk just for a few dozen minutes through the dense forest, in the hopes of finding animal trails to expedite your travels. Eventually you do come to what appear to be a dear trail and follow it until you come to a few apple trees the animals must frequent. There are still several dozen apple at the top of the trees which these future dear still can't crane their necks up to eat. Reveling in your good fortune you gather what apples you can carry, an begin your journey back to your camp. Ah, red delicious, you're rather thankful in that moment for the homogeneity of pre-apocalyptic mono-farming. The genes for delicious fruit apparently, thankfully, do well in nature.

Eating your fill of fresh fruit you return to camp shortly thereafter, at least with a satisfied stomach.
