"Young lady, where have you been?" he asked.

Peyton looked confused. "Um, what?" she asked.

"I've been worried sick about you!" John said.

"I'm sorry, sir," Peyton said. "But I really don't know what's going on..."

"Well, I'll tell you!" John said. "You are my stepdaughter, and you've just missed curfew! You know the rules. Now you have to be punished!"
