John and Sarah, blind date.

John was nervous to meet Sarah. He had been preparing for a week now since his friend Paul set him up with her. He knew nothing about her, but he tried to make himself look presentable. He had combed his dark curly hair as best as he could and his outfit was something out of a thrift store. Jeans and a decent collared shirt.

Sarah was having similar stress with meeting John. Her friend Rachel and her boyfriend Paul set up this blind date. It was just a small lunch at a cafe, but Sarah wanted to try and look her best. She managed to find a nice top in a clearance sale and reasonable skirt that went to her knees. She had her mess of hair tied back into a ponytail that she let fall over her shoulder.

Even as they both looked at themselves in the mirror they both felt unworthy for this date.

John arrived a bit too early so he grabbed a coffee and sat near the window. When Sarah arrived she recognized John from a photo she was shown.

"John?" she asked, sitting across from him.

"Sarah?" he replied.

"That's an awkward name for a handsome guy," she said with a smile.

"Ah, yes- I'm John," John said going red, "And you must be Sarah? Paul didn't tell me you'd be so beautiful."

It was Sarah's turn to blush, "I'll be right back, I need to get some coffee."

Internally they both felt butterflies in their stomach. It was a fine start to a first date.

When Sarah returned her coffee nearly spilled over, John caught it, but their hands touched. A spark shocked them as they reflexively pulled away.

"That was weird," Sarah said.

"Thunderstorm?" John said.
