Joe, Nightclub Bouncer

Saturday night, the busiest night in the week. You arrived early tonight and had a coffee with Jessica, the barmaid and Emma, your boss. Normally the three of you and mike the DJ are all the staff needed to man the place but tonight, like any other Saturday, Emma has recruited a couple of extras to handle the clients. You tap your feet as the line starts to form to your left.

In your ear piece, Emma gives you the go. You open the door and unlock the chain. The first clients get in. A couple, a few girls, three guys alone. At this time of night, you can still let them in. Three more girls, here and there you check a bag, turn a blind eye on some coke, business as usual. You can feel that the night will be smooth. You check your watch. Ten thirty. A guy and two girls, two more girls… Further down the road you hear a siren. This job is definitely boring but it pays the bills and anyway you don’t plan on doing this all your life. A few guys, you give them hell for a minute but then you let them in.

Suddenly a little woman steps out of the line and walks up to you. Early twenties, short black hair, a ring in her nose and red lenses.

“I’m thirsty, the line is boring, you will let me in.”

You want to please her but suddenly there’s some ruckus in the crowd. You are about to close the door and go check when the girl grabs your wrist.

“Don’t mind that. Let me in, now!”
