Chapter 29 by dearnise dearnise

Who to follow next?

Jasmine gets to work.

Fortunately for Jasmine, there was quite a rainstorm over the Freeport province, so fresh rainwater was being poured into the cooling trough. She just had to turn a crank to close the breach, and let the rest of it run off to wherever it did. Then she set the mold for making an alloy metal bar on the floor, placed some mithril and silver bars into a melting pot, and placed it in the forge that she had already gotten going. Once that was in, she started to use the pump, pumping air into the furnace, fanning the flames, and heating the forge up to take the metals to their melting points. It may've taken awhile for her to do it, but as soon as she saw that everything was melted, she took it out, and poured the molten metal into the mold. While she let it cool, she took another set of mithril bars, and melted it down, this time pouring it into molds for her armor pieces.

Letting the alloy bar for her new flamberge cool and solidify, she worked on her armor pieces, heating and reshaping them, as needed to fit her needs. She left a few notches on the front of her bra-like breastplate for some enchanting gems, and carefully worked on making holes on the top of the skirt for adding leather brackets later on to hold a leather belt. She took the bracers next, reshaping them so that she could easily slip them on and off, even when she later adds on some leather underlining, which she would do the same for the skirt. Then it was on to her leg plates, reworking them so that they could be worn comfortably over skin, and/or leather boots.

Then it was on to the alloy bar for her weapon. Taking it out of the mold, she reheated it, just enough to make it soft for her to rework it. Then she poured it out, placed it on the anvil, and she grabbed her mallet, and started to hammer it down, folding it over many times to maximize the alloy's strength and durability. When she felt she was ready to shape it into the blade of the flamberge sword. With careful hammering, she worked out the shape of the blade, reheating as needed. She did one final reheat after working out the final shape to maximize its strength and durability, then a dip into the cooling trough.

With a few drops of an acidic substance, she sheds the blade's blackened surface to reveal its silvery finish. She then carefully examined it, and went to work on sharpening the blade, as needed, doing a few tests, where required. Setting the blade aside, she grabbed a small gold bar, melted it down, and poured it into a set of molds for the hilt pieces. Then she took some pieces of ivory, and carefully worked it into the main part of the hilt, with notches for a few enchanting gems. When she saw that the other hilt pieces had cooled down and hardened, she took a container of a resin-like substance, and coated the parts of the hilt pieces, and the back end of the blade, so that they'll bond together, and to the ivory hilt, when it dries and hardens to form a very strong glue. Feeling that she had completed the weapon, she tested it on her training dummies, making any changes to it until it was to her desired state. Then she added the enchanting gems to the notches, wrapped some leather strips around the hilt where her hands would go, and her new weapon was complete.

That left her with her leatherworking the next day. Even though her existing sets from her gladiator days were still good, they were not that suitable for the rigors of adventuring. So she worked on some suitable leather pieces--leather bras and matching bikinis, leather underskirts, underlining for her bracers, and then her boots. She was going for a pair of boots with low, broad heels for comfort and function, and go up to her knees. She then went on to make winter variants, adding a pair of leather pants. Bringing them all in to her quarters, she looked at two days of her handiwork. She had done so much, in so little time, and she simply collapsed to her bed, smiling.
