It kinda works

Pete´s steam boat fills the Monstro belly with smoke, and before long he spits you out. The monster gets furious, and begins a hot pursuit.

"Rawr, Rawr, no one can get Pete!" And for a moment or two it appears to be true, for you are taking distance from the whale. It submerges, and everything appears to be quiet

It jumps from the water with tremendous momentum, almost fully leaving the sea, but then gravity takes its unavoidable course, creating a gigantic tidal wave that carries the steam boat

"Nothing can stop Pete!" The captain screams as his cruise surfs the wave, miraculously whole. Even a chicken can fly for a few seconds.

When the tsunami dies it sends you and your companions off the ship, and through a portal that just happened to be there, open, as if waiting for you three.
