It fails horribly

With the flash of light Mathias felt his control of the spell slip. The grimwoire was unstable and Mathias couldn't stop the flow of mana into it. He saw his mana bar drop further and further. His head started to hurt once his mana hit 100 points. He tried desperately to break contact with the book. His arms and hands were locked, he couldn't drop it. He tried harder to cut his magical connection with the evil tome but to no avail. His mana hit 25 and his nose started to bleed, it felt like his head was being torn apart. Suddenly he felt a ripple from the book, a half second later it exploded sending all the mana it had siphoned out of him into the air as a magical blast. He felt the heat of the shockwave pulse through him, super heating every atom in an instant, and then he felt nothing. Mathias was instantly vaporized by the magical attack. He didn't even have time to scream. The book fell to the ground with a solid *thump* and there it lay, waiting for another poor soul foolish enough to attempt to play with magic.
