It's your neighbour, just leaving a note

You freeze, you hear a rustle through the letterbox, faintly hear footsteps going away, and wait until it sounds quiet.

The front door does have windows, but they're privacy glass thankfully so you're not worried as you glance through them to ensure no one's outside. Under the letterbox, you find a handwritten note.

Neighbourly greetings!

My name is Frank Earnest, the guy living one number down from you.

First up, I want to apologise for today. I know I may have seemed like a voyeur, but I can assure you, I only saw you a few times when you were sunbathing as I was out in the garden, and when I heard that you seemed to have hurt yourself, I was just trying to make sure you're okay. The fence is a lot shorter on my side then it is on yours, so it's not hard to look into your garden. If you're worried about this, we can talk about raising the fence or growing bushes or something. As they say, Good fences make good neighbours!

So I'm sorry this is how we made our introduction. I'd really like to make it up to you, maybe get something to eat or one of us could drop by the other's house.

I'm sure once we talk you'll get to know me you'll know I'm much better than your first impression of me. I really do spend my time doing things other than spying on attractive ladies at swimming pools!

You sigh. "Attractive ladies"? You get knot in your stomach about how he clearly mistook you for one. At least you're now sure that he didn't think you were a guy in a bikini, the distance and EDNA doing the job so well contributed to that. So with that small benefit, you needed a way to set him straight (*haha*) on the matter. Somehow informing him that his real new neighbour isn't an attractive lady, and explain how the woman he saw had every reason to be there yet he'd never be seeing ever again.
