Is a naval vessel headed to the front of a war on some far away continent

Mia snuck on board a huge Galleon. She managed to get down below deck and found a hidden nook in the corner of the first room.

She had planned on staying only an hour or so, just long enough to be sure the goons were gone. But after only a few minutes a bell rang from above deck. The ship was taking off!

Unlike the harbor, where she could have carelessly gotten onto any safe vessel, this was not safe at all. Mia has somehow, whether by miracle, fate, or bad luck found herself headed toward the front of a war with some species she has never seen in person before.

The ship is a transport vessel meant to ferry fresh soldiers to the front of a war, that is not going well for our side. The men she could see from her hiding spot were all tense from anticipation. This wasn't going to be a short journey.
