Into the station

You both get off at Tokyo Station and change clothes in the women’s room. You’re in the process of walking back to your next train when your little sister tugs at your sleeve.

“Onee-sama, outsider.” She whispers, pointing at an American woman not far from you two. She’s attracting the looks of everyone around her and you notice the red stamp that should have carried her new DNA code is smudged away as if she wiped it off almost immediately. You pat your sister’s head and look down at her for a moment.

“Outsiders are going to get in sometimes. It’s our job as heads of a family to take care of them.” You explained.

She looks at the woman with sharp eyes, but ultimately relents when you give her a delicate push towards her. The two of you walk up and you introduce yourself.

“Ohayō gozaimasu.” You say. English is less than a shadow in your mind now. You can’t speak it and you can’t understand it, but within your life it was guaranteed to go extinct, so why bother?

Nevertheless, when she responds in shaky Japanese, you offer her help finding her way. But while you wait, you give Aki your IC card and tell her to get three bottled teas from a vending machine. You don’t know why a temporary IC card was in your baggage instead of a bank card but it would be thoughtless to waste it. Aki returns with three black teas and offers one, like you said, to the American girl. After insisting on how rude turning her down would be, and that she’s already receiving negative attention, she takes the tea and takes a long drink thanks to the heat.

You and Aki smile, knowing what comes next and direct her towards your next train. She starts to drink more of the tea as you sit down with her and the train pulls away. Light fades away entirely from the outside as you enter a tunnel, and the overhead lights get brighter to compensate. You see the woman’s blonde hair turn a strange shade of pink that would have been considered unnatural before, but genetic alterations render unnatural appearances irrelevant. Her skin changes tones as her face becomes a perfect pale pink and her facial structure becomes totally Japanese.

You can see her skin changing across the rest of her exposed flesh while her body shrinks slightly, going from an adult in her mid twenties to a young woman around 18 years old. When you come through the end of the tunnel, she seems to understand what happened, as memories flood her mind and she remembers herself as Kairi. She is your keeper and servant. You aren’t even back in Kyushu yet and already your House has a new member.
