In the library at school, a year after her curse

Audrey bit her lip and began to play nervously with the red hair that hung to the small of her back. There were only minutes left on the clock. She wrote frantically and without focus. Her locker. Just had to get to her locker.

But first The Run. Every day Audrey faced The Run. It seemed almost as if she had always done The Run, although in reality it had been....9 months? 307 days? Or maybe more? Audrey would Run, just like every other day, every other time. And just like every other time, The Run would be humiliating. Audrey was resigned to these facts.

And here it was. The ringing of the school bell, the rush of cold air, and a tiny "poof" were the giveaways that couldn't but help but elicit a soft gasp from the apprehensive beauty. Audrey steeled her will and **** herself not to look down, although she knew what she would see; skin. White skin. There were certain things looking away couldn't spare her from. The slap of her feet on the tile. No. She couldn't do this today. So Audrey Ran. Her feet slapped the floor and those all too familiar with the sound turned to look as Audrey the Exposed made her daily Run. Today would be a day like any other and soon the humiliation would be over. But would it?
