I'll buy a dress with her ❦

I did not suspect that buying Izabella a dress would require my presence - but - Izabella insisted and I figured I'll try to make the best of it. I figured we can go to a lunch, then do some shopping, then maybe a diner? We have not been out together in quite a while, I realized.

We started out in one of the big department stores a'la Harrods. Food court had some promising choices and Izabella accepted my invitation to go with the seafood. Calamari and squid platter was exquisite, the side of blanched broccoli and milk sauce created unusual but pleasant mix. This trip was really shaping up to be a pleasant experience - I thought.

Took me less then an hour to swallow that thought and then vomit it back. From floor to floor, from kiosk to kiosk, we (and by we I mean Izabella) apparently couldn't find anything that would be even worthy of trying on.

Two hours in we've changed the store, opting for a boutique avenue instead. Well here at least some of the dresses were deemed to be worthy of covering Izabella's back. None however were deemed good enough to buy.

Maybe that's better I thought, especially after checking some of the prices - many didn't have any price tags, or pricing information. To be fair I've long since passed the "if you have to ask you can't afford it" stage. I can afford all of them, but it still feels a bit silly to me to spend on a one-time use dress an amount that could feed a family for half a year, even in this country.

As the day went on Izabella's mood visibly worsened, and I was trying to keep up the morale but failing miserably. Finally we left the last store she wanted to check with nothing.

"Listen, the one in that store, the second one, green one with the green thingie. That one looked good right? Want to go back and buy it? If not maybe we can eat a diner and try tomorrow morning?"
