What Race do you choose?
Human
Now, Id love for Human to be a simple option but, you're human right now. You know their nothing but complicated. In the world of Magic, Humans can be susceptible to all manners of things so before you LOCK IN this choice lets narrow what you want down a smidge more. Same principle you get to learn more about the Humans of this land as well as what each variant will give you. Don't worry if you don't know what these mechanics do because I will walk you through them once you've picked.
--BASIC HUMANS--
They are everywhere, at any place, wormed their way into society though a mix of a species wide main character syndrome and just being so morally flexible. Humans are the "PRIME RACE" for lack of a better term they have carved the land out for themselves so that if your lucky enough to be born a human 9 times out of 10 things will go your way. That doesn't mean it would go perfectly for you but nobody's going to through a casual slur your way in the street and your free to choose to study magic or join the army or worship a god. luxury where other races lack.
Mechanics wise you get,
Ability Score Increase: (Up two of your main 6 stats by +1)
Skill Proficiency: (Pick one of your "sub-abilities" to be Proficient in adding +2 to its bonus { Proficient: A skill your character has extra knowledge or experience with })
Feat: (A unique feature of your character weather innate or learned that acts as a boon { I'll let you see the options once picked })
--HUMAN SHIFTER--
Humans are squishy and such are prone to disease and mutation. Nicknamed Llycanthropes or Were-people, Shifters are ether descendants of or direct sufferers of Lycanthropy. What makes Shifters different to a normal werewolf is their ability to semi-transform on command, gaining a boon from the wolf who infected them. This does not stop the illness from taking over however, every full moon they will turn for the night. Their personality in wolf form unknown.
Mechanics wise you get,
Ability Score Increase: (Ether up one of your main 6 stats by +2 or up two stats by +1)
Bestial Instincts: (Pick one off Acrobatics, Athletics, Intimidation, or Survival to add +2 to its bonus)
Darkvision: (You can see in the dark)
Shifting: (While shifted, you have advantage on Wisdom checks, and no creature can make an attack roll with advantage against you)
--SIMIC HYBRID (GUARDIANS)--
Have you ever heard of "MK-Altra" ? The demeaning, monsters experiments that your world's FBI did to see if they could control people? The Material plain has something similar called the Guardian project, a "super soldier" program where they kidnap humanoids and commit **** experiments on them until they become obedient, war machines/ generals/ prostitutes called "Guardians". The experiment that done them in however was the "Simic Hybrid Program" that sought to combine their prisoners with that off different animals. When animal population declined they were finally found out and demolished but most of the Guardians gained these Hybrid facets. Weather traumatized by the experiments or fully brainwashed the Guardians are now living free.
Mechanics wise you get,
Ability Score Increase: (Up Constitution and one of the other core 6 stats by +1)
Darkvision: (You can see in the dark)
Animal Enhancements: (An Ability gained by whatever type of Hybrid you are { I'll let you see the options once picked })
--KALASHTAR--
Sometimes, through Angelic Power or some other Magical ****, A Human Soul can be combined with a Quari (Dream Spirit) when in the womb creating a Kalashtar. Kalashtar are for all accounts Human but naturally have an innate other worldliness, wisdom, and compassion that blossoms at a very young age. Kalashtar become young savants and typically out preform adults in their field of study. Because of their tie to the benevolent spirit Quari, they tend to lean more the to Spiritual and Religious careers, often seen as a gift/ messenger from a god. And sometimes they are.
Mechanics wise you get,
Ability Score Increase: (Up Wisdom and Charisma by +1)
Dual Mind: (You have advantage on all Wisdom saves { Advantage: You get to roll twice and take the higher one })
Mental Discipline: (You have resistance to psychic damage { Resistance: You take half the damage rounded down })
Psychic Glamour: (Pick one off Insight, Intimidation, Performance, or Persuasion to add +2 to its bonus)
Severed from Dreams: (As you are a "Dream Spirit" you cannot dream. Sleep will always be a dreamless one)
Now again this is permanent I don't know what would happen if you go back and pick something else what would mess up later on down the line. This will be the race your soul is put into so please do not regret it. I don't want you in a body your unhappy in. That being said I did jump this extra choice on you so this is your last chance to turn back and look at the other options. I highly advise against it but if all of these Human variants are a tern off it is an option. Be careful however as not all the races back there will give you this second chance so if you do, go with your gut and trust it.
