Her Parents

Gwen cuddles with you until she falls asleep. You pick her up and bring her too her bed, with her clearly needing more sleep. You walk back downstairs and into the kitchen.

“So you’re a dad now and you have to deal with that, be a fucking man” you think to yourself “what will my parents think? Will I even be able to go to Harvard?” Your head is filled with questions as you put your head in your hands and try to calm yourself down.

All of a sudden you hear the doorknob rattling. “Oh shit! It must be her parents!” you think, scrambling and thinking about what you should do.

“Gwen? Ugh this place is a mess...” you hear a woman say. “We’re home sweetheart” you hear a man say, as they walk upstairs somehow not noticing you in the kitchen. You hear Gwen’s door open and run to the couch, get under the blanket and hold your breath.

You hear them walk back downstairs both talking to each other about something you can’t hear. “Umm... excuse me?”

Oh fuck, were they talking to you?

“Excuse me? Hello?” You hear them say again. They start to walk over to you and pull the blanket off. “Who the fuck would you be?” her dad says.

“Oh, no one, just the guy that got your daughter pregnant” you think to yourself. “I’m Sam...” you say, nervously “Sam West.”

“Why are you in our house?” Gwen’s Mother says. “I uhh... there was a party...” you say.

The Dad starts to laugh “I’ve been on that couch before” he laughs harder, the mom punches him in the shoulder “oh yeah right... well, are you and Gwen a thing now?” You blush and the mom hits him harder on the shoulder.

“Umm... what?” you say, blown away by the question. “Of course they aren’t a thing, Gwen has Jack!” the mom says. You feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulder, they don’t suspect anything really.

Just as you think that, Gwen walks down the stairs, rubs her eyes and walks over into the conversation. She mouths the words “do they know?” to you and you shake your head.

The Mom picks up on this and says “oh, so you do know each other?” Gwen blushes this time and says “yeah, he was in my Chemistry class.” The mom rolls her eyes and says “okay, I can already sense something, what the fuck were you really doing?” The Dad looks down at you, angry.

Gwen jumps in front of them both and says “okay, okay... he’s my boyfriend, but we didn’t do anything sexual or anything like that... that’s why he’s on the couch.” The dad doesn’t look as angry, but he still looks angry.

“Oh, okay sweetie, what happened between you and jack?” the mom asks. Gwen looks down at her feet and you speak up, “Jack cheated on her.” Gwen looks over at you and raises her eyebrows. “Oh no, that’s terrible!” the mom says, as the dad says “ugh, I can’t stand that family, I told you he was a bad egg.”

The mom hits him again, “are you okay sweetheart?” she asks. Gwen says “yeah” and looks over at you “only because of Sam though” she smiles. The Dad looks at you again, this time with a proud, fatherly look.

This kind of conversation goes on for a while and the parents walk back upstairs. Gwen kisses you on the lips and lays down on the couch with you. “What the fuck are we gonna do?” She says, looking up at the ceiling. You kiss her cheek, “right now... I couldn’t care less”
