Heather comes along

When Heather saw him swimming up, she left Taylor to talk with Kurt and swam over to meet the younger Bishop. “So, how’re you feeling?” She asked jokingly.

“Better.” He said wiping the water from his face. “This is a beautiful place you’ve got her Heather.” He said looking around at the forestry that surrounded the lake except dfor a few other cabins along the water.

“You think so?” She asked starting a back float. Zack watched as she floated, trying to keep his mind PG. Zack swam along beside Heather as she floated along randomly, Zack looked back to see his friends drifting further and further away until finally they rounded a corner and lost sight of them completely. Heather ended her float finally and looked around curiously. “I’ve never come this far.” She said in wonder. “Want to look around?” She asked Zack.

“Sure.” He said as he swam after her towards a rock formation protruding in the middle of the lake. They climbed up onto the rock and inched their way around until they found a small cave burrowed into the rock by water and time. Heather gave him a questioning look and he shrugged his shoulders. She bent down to fit through the small opening giving Zack quite the view.

“Don’t get distracted.” She said as if understanding what he had been thinking. He simply grunted in response as he followed behind her. After a little more worming their way through the rock, they entered into a large room that was boiling hot. “Damn, it’s hot in here.” Heather said.

“It’s like an oven.” Zack agreed as they looked around the cave trying to find out what if anything was the cause of the heat. “Hey Heather, come take a look at this.” Zack said directing Heather’s attention to a series of drawings on the cave walls.

“Wow! Are these wall paintings from Native Americans? I knew this used to be their land, but I hadn’t seen anything resembling Native design in the city. I guess the initial settlers destroyed all the Native artifacts, what a shame.” She said feeling the wall, but bringing her hand back with a hiss. “It’s hot.” She said to Zack as a warning.

“Careful.” He said. “I never knew you were into this stuff.” He said

“I like to research the history of the town, the Ravers have lived here since the initial European colonization of the town, and it’s good to know your history.” She said.

“True, I suppose. Follow these drawings; do you know what they mean?” Zack asked.

“No clue, but I’m sure we can make something out.” She said quietly in concentration.

“Yeah, it looks like a story of a bear.” Zack said.

“It does. A bear that hunts those that don’t belong on the Azure Rocks Native Land.” Heather said incredulously.

“How do you get that from a series of pictures?” Zack asked.

“Look, doesn’t that rock formation look familiar?” Heather asked pointing ata part of the paintings on the wall.

“Kind of?” Zack said uncertainly.

“Oh come on Zack, you were born here.” Heather said. “That’s the rock formation behind Azure Rocks High!” Heather exclaimed.

“Shit, I think you’re right!” Zack exclaimed after taking a closer look at the painting. “Ok, ok, this is getting good, what else does it say?”
