You decide to give diplomacy a chance. After all, your passive brother has always been a pushover, it’s hard to believe he actually wants to take the leadership from you. You haven’t talked about it, specially not after your fight.

You find your brother reading in the partition he used as a room. You were making moves, taking charge of the situation to make sure you won, worrying about him overtaking you. Meanwhile your dear brother was studying quietly as always, he wasn’t even reading about magic or something to prepare. You had been paranoid. Ail looked up from his book, drawing a small smile on his face when he saw you.

“Gyn. Can we talk?” He beat you to it, his eyes filled with worry. “I’m sorry about the other day.”

“I know, we both took it too far,” You tell him, knowing he means it, a part of you still fears him taking control of the tribe, if not now, somewhere down the line. “I didn’t think we would have to settle this, I… I never saw you as competition,” Ail just nods at this, “I wish we didn’t have to fight each other, I used to picture you by my side when I become the chief.”

“You wanted me to be your mate?” Ail asks, his cheeks reddening.

“No-no, just my partner, my second in command,” You stumble to clarify, “Who else could I trust?”

“Oh…” Your brother looks down. He had shown a glint of joy when he ‘misinterpreted’ you taking him as a partner. You were wrong, apparently Ail loves you the same way he does your sister, that is, you’re now sure he lusts after you. He had always been very attached to you and he’s a very feminine boy, more feminine than your sister. His crush on her was the only reason you hadn’t thought about him being attracted to men.

If you take him as a mate, if you dominate him sexually, he would be out of the race, the other goblins would never respect and follow someone who’s subservient in bed. This way you can keep him at your side like you had always envisioned. Well, not exactly, you hadn’t thought about your brother as a potential mate, unlike your sister, you’ve always seen him as your brother and felt the appropriate brotherly love for him. You might have examined and experimented with each other before, but the mix of goblin and human customs you’ve been raised with had both succeeded in instilling that having sex with your twin brother and brood brother was wrong.
