He wakes up the next morning

Nicholas woke up the next morning after pleasant dreams. After peeping out his window and seeing no activity from Dana’s room, he showered, changed his clothes, and went downstairs for breakfast. He gladly ate the eggs and bacon his mother prepared. His mother noticed his attitude. “You seem very happy this morning. Why so chipper today?” She asked, pleased that her son did not seem down as always. “Well, I’ve just got my nose in a very good book.” Nicholas said before he gulped some orange juice. “You seemed tired of books just recently. You were saying you wanted to get out of the house.” His mother probed. “Well, I would like to get out of the house some.” Nicholas admitted. “Well, you can come with me to do some errands today. First, the bank, then the grocery store.” Shit, there is no way I’m missing another peep show, Nicholas thought. He had been bothering his mother about getting out of the house, but she always insisted on him coming with her. “Well, Mother, I really would rather go somewhere by myself.” His mother put down the dishrag and turned towards him. “Go where?” She asked, puzzled. “Well . . . you know. Out.” His mother went back to scrubbing the counter, but noticeably harder this time. “We don't want you just going ‘out,’ you’re only a growing boy and the world is very dangerous. You could get lost, you could get mugged by someone. These things happen!”
