He managed to make some plain toast with butter

Slinging his backpack over his shoulder, he made his way outside to catch up with his sister, locking the front door behind him.

"Hurry up, I said we had six minutes and you have already taken nine to make toast!" she remarked, turning away from him and beginning to walk down the pavement at a quick pace.

"Oh sorry, I was slightly sidetracked by the fact that I am now basically a superhero!" he boasted, jogging to catch up to his sister.

She rolled her eyes, a trace of a smirk marked her face. "You aren't a superhero Nate, you now just have a new way to invade people's privacy with BS powers, along with peeking on them in the shower" she joked with him, biting the tip of her tongue, teasingly.

"But you said you had forgiven me!" he protested, with a look of mock betrayal etched across his face.

"Hmmm, I'm not sure, you are going to have to repay me somehow..."

He groaned, bringing his hand up to clasp his face. "Ugh, how is that fair! You could have locked the door!"

"Oh shush, you want me to tell people you spy on your sister in the shower?" she taunted, looking bemused.

Nathan coloured at the cheeks, and looked at the pavement, muttering under his breath ".... 'spose not"

"Ah chin up, I'm only pulling your leg." he let him know. "But I will tell you when I think of something you can do for me." she teased one last time before arriving at the bus stop.

As they arrived, they met up with some friends: the twins Rebecca and Lauren Thomson. They had met each other through their parents being acquaintances, and hit it off immediately. Despite being twins, the difference between them was night and day. Rebecca was essentially, a female jock. Sporty, outgoing, charismatic, she always had a friend in every room, With Lauren being an artsy, quiet and reserved type, preferring a secluded corner, rather than the spotlight that her twin preferred. Despite their differences, they were great friends, never leaving each other out of any of their endeavors.

"HEY PHEEBS!" Rebecca hollered across the bus stop, causing heads to turn and investigate the commotion. She frantically waved her hand at Nathan's older sister, beckoning her over, causing Laura to look mortified and clutch onto her artbook and try to shrink herself away.

Nathan followed his sister, being greeted by Lauren with a shy wave and a quiet "hello Nate...". He lifted his hand in greeting before receiving a much less warm greeting from Rebecca.

"Oh it's you." She stated with disdain, before turning her head to his sister to strike up a conversation with her. Nathan had been on good terms with Rebecca but for some reason that was beyond him, but on the first day of college she just went completely cold on him.

Lauren grabbed his attention back by trying to strike up a conversation just like her sister, something she had been trying more and more recently, as an effort to come out of her shell.

"so um well how are you this morning nathan" she inquired with her awkward phrasing. Nathan chuckled to himself internally, he thought it was kind of cute but knew that she got terribly embarrassed if anyone brought it up.

"I'm pretty great today actually Lulu" he declared matter of factly. "Yourself?"

Lauren blushed and hugged her artbook closer as she squeaked "Nate! I told you to stop that nickname! It's embarrassing..." she trailed off while staring at her shoes.

"Alright, Alright" He put his hands up in playful defense "If you really want me to stop then I promise to stop... Lulu" he joked tongue in cheek, crying out in exaggerated wails of pain, as Lauren began to lightly slap his shoulder with her artbook
