"Yeah, right, I'd bet you'd like that," Dawn rolled her eyes but smiled at the mysterious stranger. "Listen, I get the feeling that Guiseppe had alot of enemies. Now that I'm in charge of the operation, I want there to be peace."

The man snorted. "You think you're in charge? You're in no position to promise anyone, anything, sweetheart. This is just a pause, while everyone finds out where they stand, and how strong Tony's support is. Sooner or later, things are going to get very rough, and you'll be pushed down, then out. I'd give you a month, maybe less."

Dawn sat in silence for a moment, as she digested this. "What do I do?" she asked, voice trembling.

"You're a sweet kid," he sighed, glancing over at her. "And I'd hate to see you whacked, or sold into white slavery. What you need is allies, to protect you from this palace intrigue. Do you understand?"

Dawn nodded miserably, but managed a brave smile. "I do..."
